About Ms. Kim
Ms. Kim has been teaching for 15 years and is excited to be at Decatur! She did her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She taught Early Childhood Special Education for 6 years with the Champaign School District, where she worked with students “at-risk” and students with special needs- particularly students who were deaf or hard of hearing amongst other diverse needs. Ms. Kim then moved to Chicago and taught kindergarten in CPS for 9 years at Hamilton Elementary School. Ms. Kim is endorsed in teaching gifted education. She is passionate about the importance of early childhood education and desires to nurture a love for learning in young students. She considers it especially exciting to be a part of the amazing growth that happens in kindergarten. When she is not teaching, Ms. Kim enjoys reading a good book, trying out a new restaurant, watching a great movie, or seeing a live show!
