5th Grade Percussion Compositions

5th grade students ended their drumming and percussion unit by creating complementary rhythm compositions in small groups. Check out one class's final performance here!

Composing + Creativity

Students begin the year exploring music through creation and performance. They have so many choices of how to perform and all their different personalities shine in their performances. This video is a few snippets of students practicing, working together, and performing their own musical creations.
Students in grades 4-6th have been ending the year with an open mic night (day). There has been piano, guitar, ukulele, juggling, and of course lots of karaoke! I can't wait to see what other performances we will have this week. 

It's Show Day...

How do musicians play together as an ensemble?

2nd Grade musicians and 6th grade musicians both worked at playing various parts of a song as an ensemble today. Check out how each groups interlocking parts work together (and how the musicians change and grow as they gain experience). 

RE•VER•BER•ATE

Submissions are now open for PERFORMANCE SLOTS in the first ever RE•VER•BER•ATE, a free multidisciplinary arts festival for the Chicago Public Schools community in downtown Chicago on April 27th-30th, 2023!


This four-day event is open to all CPS students including those from charter, contract and option schools. The event will provide students in PreK-12th grades with exhibition and performance opportunities, as well as workshops, portfolio reviews/audition workshops, Fine and Performing Arts high school fairs, and college/career connections. 


RE•VER•BER•ATE will also include Visual Arts and Film/Video submissions. Keep an eye out for the submission process in early 2023!
