About Ms. Kim
Ms. Kim has been teaching for 16 years and is happy to be part of the Decatur team! She did her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she also completed her first graduate degree. She recently finished her second graduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She taught Early Childhood Special Education for 6 years with the Champaign School District, where she worked with students “at-risk” and students with special needs- particularly students who were deaf or hard of hearing amongst other diverse needs. Ms. Kim then moved to Chicago and taught kindergarten in CPS. She taught at at Hamilton Elementary School for 9 years and then moved over to Decatur. Ms. Kim is endorsed in teaching gifted education and has earned credentials as a reading specialist. She is passionate about the importance of early childhood education and desires to nurture a love for learning in young students. She considers it especially exciting to be a part of the amazing growth that happens in kindergarten. When she is not teaching, Ms. Kim enjoys reading a good book, trying out a new restaurant, watching a great movie, or seeing a live show!
