Mr. Echevarria Biography

This will be Matthew's first year teaching at Decatur, filling in as Dance faculty for Mrs. Branch. He is super excited to spread the joy of dance to everyone he meets and welcomes all students to a new and exciting school year!

About Me:

Matthew Echevarria was born in Chicago, IL. He attended Illinois State University with a B.A. in Dance Education with an endorsement in early childhood dance education. Since then Matthew has continued to teach dance and perform all around the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs. When he is not teaching, you can see him dancing as a member of Desueno Dance. Recently, Matthew has performed with Desueno at Navy Pier where they also live streamed the performance internationally! When not dancing you can catch him reading and exploring new places to eat all around the city.

Welcome back Decatur students!

There is a lot we will be learning this New Year. Today K-4th each learned what they will be learning the next 2 weeks in dance class. Feel free to ask your child what new dance they will be learning and what fun activity they will be doing on Friday! See you all on the dance floor!

Last week 3rd and 4th grade began learning new Ballroom dances but not before having an exquisite Grand ball! Students came dressed up to class and recreated the magnificent royal dance Waltz as Kings and Queens of the Castle.
