4th graders learned about nonfiction text features by doing a gallery walk around the classroom!
4th graders put on their teacher hats and help to evaluate sample constructed responses.
Students sketched their thinking while listening to the narrative nonfiction story, "Rescue at the Water's Edge" about boat rescues during 9/11.
4th & 5th graders established their classroom norms & values during our talking circle. All students agreed to uphold these values to make sure that everyone is able to do and be their best at school!
6th graders showed their understanding of important characters from our novel, Among the Hidden, by creating character instagram accounts.
5th graders designed henna on Amal's hand that represents important ideas, themes and symbols from the novel, Amal Unbound.
7th graders show their understanding of the novel, Notes From the Midnight Driver, through double entry journals. This is a great substitute for traditional annotations!
Students for our end of novel project, were able to choose from a variety of project choices to showcase their understanding of the novel. Here is an example of a student who created an album cover and soundtrack list for one of the main characters.
6th graders chose symbols to represent themes in our novel, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

"The Most Dangerous Game" Mock Trial
7th Graders participated in a mock trial this week to determine if Mr. Rainsford was guilty of murdering General Zaroff. Check out this short clip of a member of the defense team presenting her evidence and a member of the prosecution presenting his rebuttal to her argument!
