Third grade students shared their "Happy Color" this week during SEL. In writing, they also worked on typing their final personal narrative piece on their iPad. 

Chicago Community Murals

The 3rd and 4th graders did an amazing job on their murals to represent their community's resources, landforms, bodies of water, and climate.
It was a great week in Room 106! 3rd grade students working hard on comparing and contrasting their paired texts. 4th grade students crushing their social studies projects for unit 1. 
Third graders working hard on editing and revising their writing. They were able to use colorful pens to make their edits stand out and it was fun too!
Students have been working hard and working together the first 2 weeks at school. Miss Busch is a co-teacher in the 3rd and 4th grade classes and an important member of the team! 
Students had an AMAZING end of the school year! Thank you to Ms. Johnson for taking over during my sabbatical. I know she enjoyed the third graders!
Students had a great time on the field trip! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to hep chaperone. 
Students each got their own copy of the graphic novel El Deafo this week! We are excited to read this novel based on the author Cece Bell's real life when she was in school.
Students enjoyed learning about recognizing and using figurative language in poetry the last few weeks. Check out one of the original poems above!

Students practice creating poetry using AABB and ABAB rhyme schemes as we continue with our poetry unit. Some students even took the opportunity to share their poems with the class. 

We read this beautiful book Wishes by Mượn Thị Văn. The students were able to reflect on the character in this book and think about all the things that make her who she is today.
