Silhouette Narratives | Students in 7th grade developed silhouette narratives inspired by artist, Kara Walker. Their narratives focused on the untold stories of the individuals enslaved by our nation's First President, George Washington.
Critical Thinking One-Pager | Each class in Jr. High has been assigned a critical thinking one-pager to show their understanding of our current study units. Students in 6th grade (shown above) have been looking into the factors that changed Germany from a democracy to a dictatorship. 7th grade students have been analyzing the factors that increased tensions between Great Britain and the colonists prior to the American Revolution. Last, 8th graders have been examining the impacts of the Plessy v. Ferguson decision on the nation's history.
Jr. High Name Plates | Finally was able to display all the student name plates that we created in the beginning of the year. The name plates recognized the origins and stories of our students' given names, preferred names and nicknames.

Understanding Emotions | We have a fishbowl of emotions to talk about the different ways we express ourselves when we are feeling disappointed, hurt, excited, etc.
