Week 30 of 2023-23| 5th-8th Grade Science

This week's slideshow highlights: some pics from our Decatur Family STEM Night where 5rh-8th grade students are seen presenting to parents and families their learning of STEM in Science, Math, and Lego League; several vendors such as Ms. Mendoza and The Field Museum, Friends of Chicago River, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development, and Chicago Public Library/Northtown Brach, presented their outreach programs to our families--thank you to our vendors, parents and families, for coming out to support our students as they presented their learning of STEM!; 7th grade classes investigated various pollinators and flowers and argued from evidence as to which pollinators pollinated which flowers based upon their observations of each species unique adaptations/traits; 7th grade students also explored cell protein synthesis, structures, and functions; 5th grade class went outside during one of the unusual summer-like days to investigate solar water heaters, and there is a short video where they learned that they are conductors of electricity by making a class circuit around the room using a mysterious "Energy Ball" that lights up and makes a buzzing sound when the class connected together and two people touched the anode and cathode on the plastic ball. Thank you for checking in with us this week:)
