• 1:11 Balloons Over Broadway!

  This past week, students learned about puppeteer Anthony Frederick Sarg who first created the balloons for the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York. Afterwards, students had their chance to design a balloon to go down the parade route. A few even had the chance to see their parade be displayed in the parade, using a 'green screen' background. Make sure to check out the read-aloud 'Balloons Over Broadway' this holiday weekend and stay tuned for a video being edited by students! Happy Thanksgiving!

  In this video you will see 5th grade students on a field trip to the Lyric Opera where they went on a backstage tour. You can also see 5th grade students playing ukulele in preparation for the winter show. You can also see the rock band rehearsing for the winter show. Some 6th grade students are playing violin during their recess time - the music room is a place where you can always learn and create - even during recess!

  The 6th Graders are currently in their soccer unit and the quarterfinal game came down to a shootout, with the winner moving onto the semifinals.

• 9:57 Music and Emotion: 6th and 2nd grade collaboration!

  Decatur partnered with the CSO this year to create an arts integrated unit based on music, art, and emotion. Ms. Koreman and Ms. Schmittle worked with 2nd and 6th grade students to create this project.   This week in PE we started our soccer unit. We started off with practicing our dribbling skills. Along with going over some basic dribbling drills, we incorporate some games to help improve our dribbling skills as well. Here the 3rd Grade class is playing Bumper Ball.
