5th grade Energy Flow Presentation

Students created models of the flow of energy in a given ecosystem and explained how energy cycled through the system.

Science for the week of November 18-23

A series of pictures from our 6th grade remote sensing lab, 5th grade energy flow models and Lego League coding and robot constructing.

Straw Reed Lab

Students created their own straw reeds in order to explore how sounds can be different from each other. We noticed that the shorter the straw the higher the pitch of the reed.

This week 4th graders worked on seeing how particle collisions work using pennies and how sound waves work through homemade telephones. 5th graders created an energy pyramid to help them understand the interconnectedness of ecosystems and continued creating an ecosystem in their terrariums.

Results of an acid test on an unknown mineral

Students were given an unknown mineral and they designed and conducted an investigation that looked into 5 different mineral properties including testing the reaction with acid.
