R.A.C.E. Song for 3rd Grade

Ms. Busch wrote the highly anticipated song for 3rd graders! We had fun singing along!

Morning of Play

The 2nd and 3rd graders had so much fun participating in the morning of play! This is the 3rd grade class with the domino creation that all had fun watching.

In preparation for construction, Decatur arranged for our school to rent the JCC field next door for PE classes.  Students go outside for PE each day, weather permitting and depending on Mr. Chvatal's instructional plans.  Unfortunately, as shared in the principal newsletter back on January 1st, the back play area is now under construction and not safe for recess use.  We do have indoor recess activities and have invested in more games and engaging items that students specifically asked for.  Our team has explored many options to try to lessen this inconvenience and we know that not having outdoor/indoor space is less than ideal.  The good news is that this very problem is being addressed through construction.  The next few months will likely be uncomfortable, but it will be worth it in the end.

NWEA - Reading

The 2nd & 3rd grade classes will take the NWEA for Reading starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 15th.
  • READING NWEA assessment will be on Wednesday and Thursday of this week during our regular Language Arts time.
The only thing you need to do to prepare is to make sure your child knows they should try to do their best. I have had a goal conference with each student and we discussed their strengths and areas we have worked on for growth so far this year. The results of this assessment will be shared with you with the second quarter report card at the beginning of February.

3rd graders working hard this week on their Fantastic Mr. Fox novel and on their opinion writing!
