Week 22: February 14-18, 2022

This week's slideshow update includes: 6th graders active exploring their Earth's Resources SEPUP Geology Unit with 2 lab activities, one learning how remote seismic technology is used to locate underground resources deposits, and the other using chemical reactions to extract copper from malachite ore samples; 7th grade class played a Jeopardy Game to review for their SEPUP Unit Exam on "Reproduction"; 8th graders did some research on the reliability of online articles under the topics of "Selective Breeding" and "Genetically Modified Organisms" as they conclude their SEPUP Unit exploring "Evolution". I also added a couple of shots to show how amazing our Decatur Junior High Students are: a couple of 6th graders went above and beyond an article assignment from a recent Science World Magazine article on "Cells" by making their own cell models including a very detailed diorama model and a student who chose to knit his cell model and another 6th grader brought in their own mineral samples from home to share with classmates; and a couple of 8th graders who volunteered as lab. assistants to clean up SEPUP trays from the 6th grade experiment on extracting copper from ore samples. Thanks for checking in with us this week:)
