Biography

Ms. Sharping is a highly-qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience and middle school teaching endorsements in reading, math, science, and social studies. As a product of the Chicago Public School system, Ms. Sharping is dedicated to public school education and arts integration. Ms. Sharping graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned her masters from the American College of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Her favorite way to teach is through discussion, small group activities and projects. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, painting, and playing competitive tennis.

WK8: Reimagining School Lunches

Here's a taste of the various pieces, from all their core subjects: Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies, that students brought together in a final business plan for how they would reimagine school lunches with food trucks.

WK7: Food Trucks...YUMMM!

JMS students in 4th-6th dared to reimagine school lunches through the creation of their own food truck businesses. Students created their food truck brand while integrating lessons from Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies to establish a full menu that met the nutritional needs and tastes of all students. Here is a glimpse of their drive to serve up new solutions!

JMS Advertisements

Innovators and advertisers in the making! This is a small sample of 4th-6th graders creating multimedia advertisements for their rain catchers and futuristic toilets. Students worked on integrating rhetorical appeals (logos, pathos, ethos) to create persuasive advertisements.

Week 6 JMS Integrated Unit

In our second integrated unit, JMS students tried to tackle problems about water scarcity and some of the world's sewage problems. Students designed and presented their ideas in multiple media, utilizing context, research, and subject related content to inform the decisions on their innovative solutions.

Ancient Egypt Research Projects

Winterfest 2019-20

Students in Jr. Middle School were able to participate in this month's incentive, Winterfest. Students participated in several events, showcasing their sportsmanship and excitement for fun! Go Team Red!

4-6th Grade SS/Writing: simulating trade on the Silk Road, breaking down the Enuma Elish, and exploring personal identity in the context of a community.

5th Grade: 3D Ziggurats on Ancient Mesopotamia following the GRAPES of History framework

Began TAP with 6th grade! Co-teaching with Ms. Branch while integrating Dance and Social Studies...SO FUN!
