Ms. Manon's Bio

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 10th year teaching at CPS. I have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts - Theater from Illinois State University. After living in Los Angeles and working in the music industry, I made a return to the Midwest. I received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Illinois-Chicago.

After graduating, I worked at Pritzker Elementary teaching the gifted first grade class for 9 years. I also worked as the Gifted Coordinator for the school. I love teaching novels and writers' workshop as part of a balanced literacy program.

When I am not at work I love competing in trivia nights, watching any Chicago sports team, reading, attending comedy shows and hanging out with my handsome cat, Jake.

Field Day!!

Thursday is Field Day! Students will participate in activities with their classmates throughout the day. Students will have lunch outdoors, weather permitting. As usual, we will serve lunch to students or they may bring lunch from homeStudents will enjoy a popsicle treat. The theme is the 90s.

To ensure your student has a successful Field Day, please ensure students have the following on Thursday

  • Comfortable, weather appropriate clothes

  • Sunscreen (apply before arrival)

  • Closed toe shoes

  • Towel (Optional for outdoor lunch)

  • Water bottle - labeled with your child's name

Parents that are volunteering must coordinate those efforts through Decatur Together.  In order to ensure our students' safety parents, family members and friends will not be allowed on the turf unless they have been authorized to do so.

We are excited to celebrate an incredible school year and look forward to the last 4 days of school!

Proper Dress

Reminder - students should not wear hats in school. Students should also have proper footwear for PE and Recess.
